I had the pleasure of attending Nic Rad's PeopleMatter show at RARE gallery in Chelsea. Nic is a Brooklyn-based artist and admitted media addict hosting his second solo show at RARE. Rad is showcasing his 18-month long project PeopleMatter, a collection of 99 painted portraits that capture a moment in the history of communication. Subjects include bloggers, journalists, and Internet "micro-celebrities," selected using various digital tools.

Memento Amouri — or literally "Remember you are loved" — was a one-night-only showing of new work including original art, fashion, and design collaborations from 8 third-year Parsons students in the IDp/IDC Integrated Fashion Program. These photos include Memento Amouri as well as pieces sold at Absolute Beginners.

This past September 18th, the young, savvy downtown crowd ventured out for a nouveau boutique's opening reception. Amidst a flurry of DJ beats and excited conversation, invitees and shoppers perused the racks of clothing, jewelry, and a motley assortment of design objects.

Matthew Parrotti of FUNKY FACTION writes "I am a student at Parsons - I am an artist and a designer, I create lines of hats that are made from re-used and swatched fabrics. All the hats are art pieces that are one of a kind; hand sewn, painted, and assembled..."

Ryan Brewer is a bright young star in the Fine Arts department at Parsons the New School for Design, his driven personality and impressive background in commercial and fine art installations put him in a league above his peers and even many career artists.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Sheila C. Johnson Design Center at Parsons to see the Quay Brothers' show entitled "Dormitorium: An Exhibition of Film Decors by the Quay Bros".
